OLDER MEN BLUES

Sleepy John Estes

1.
Yes I had my bad luck -all through my life.
But I had my fortune - just the same.
As that’s my fate - I’ve got no reason to complain.
2.
As long ’s I was young - I almost never asked.
I took it for granted - to be healthy and free.
But when your bones start achin’ - there’s another view to see.
3.
When your heart starts running - in an unsteady beat.
And your ears betray you - and your eyes grow weak.
You’re just reminded - that you’ve passed your peak.
4.
The older ones fade - and the younger ones grow.
There’s many people passin’ - some of your friends are gone.
Just understand your life - it’s not an endless run.
5.
Sure, I’m lookin’ back already - but without any harm.
Coz I can look forward -through the future of those to come.
Of course, I’m getting’ older … but I’m not the only one.

ALL THE THINGS YOU CAN DREAM OF

I wish you all the best
and all the rest
may be the best
that you can dream of.

I wish you all you need
and that you’ll feed
all those you meet
with hope and fulfillness.

Yeah, on this very day
this is my gift … to you.

*
Now listen, here I am
I’ll sing my song (won’t take long)
I don’t bring flowers
just to keep you warm.

I don’t tell no lies
Won’t make no plies
fo’ sure no expression
… just to comfort you.

Yeah, on this very day
this is my gift … to you.
*
I wish that you’ll be free
in heart and soul
and that you’ll see
you can play that role.

I tell you life is strange
but worth it, don’t hesitate
don’t argue ’bout loss and fame
just accept … your fate.

Yeah, on this very day
this is my advice … for you.

*
sometimes you’ll feel the pain
and just the same
you’ll fear you’re lame
- the end is: desperation.

You might just rock the joint
but - get the point
it’s just a step
… to end in fascination.

Yeah, on this very day
that’s all I wish … for you.

*

Schattensänger

I wish you all those things
a situation brings
to strengthen both your wings
- be ready for take-off.

I wish you all the love
and all the hate
that life can hide
behind its walls.

Yeah, on this very day
that’s all I pray… for you.

*
I sing my song
it won’t take long
it might be wrong
… to tell you ’bout illusions.

I pick my strings
and watch your wings
grow strong and hard
- right from the beginning.

Yeah, on this very day
that’s all I can do … for you.

*
I wish you all the best
and all the rest
(I hope that’s enough)
that you can dream of.

I wish you all you need
and that you feed
all those you meet
with love and understanding.

Coz on this very day
that’s all I have … for you.

NEW YEAR CHILLEN

Thereʼs a new year coming on.
So sing along,
chillen,
sing along

Forget about the breath
it took U to survive.
Do not betray yourself.
Thereʼs a-plenty of sorrow to hive.

Thereʼs a new year coming.
So keep on singing,
chillen,
sing along.

For all those to break
into tears for good,
all those to sever for years
- as if they could.

Thereʼs a new year.
So keep on,
chillen,
keep on.

Remember the time
you needed to succeed.
And relate your pains
to the purpose you need.

A new year.
Try,
chillen,
just try.

Thereʼs a new year coming.
So sing along.
Sing along,
you blessed child!

January 1st-mini

Donʼt die!
Donʼt cry!
Donʼt lie.

Just sing along
as you used to do
before you realized
all betrayal and pains.

Thereʼs a new year coming,
chillen.
Sing along
praise all of your losses
and all of your gains.
Pretend that the coalmines
never cause pains

and deny that your jewels
are petrified tears.

Thereʼs a new year a-coming.
So sing along,
chillen,

sing along
Thereʼs a new year coming … on.

I DIED ONE TIME

I died one time - I ain’t gonna die no mo’.
I died one time - and I ain’t gonna die no mo’.
’t was a hard time a-dyin’ - that I know fo’ sure.

First thing I remember - I had to sell my soul.
Yes - I remember - I had sold my soul.
I sold it to the upgrown and my heart turned cold.

I found out what it means, not to tell the truth.
I found out what it means, not to tell the truth.
And I learned by the years - that’s what you can use.

Just try to betray - yourself and any man!
Just try to betray - yourself and any man!
You might feel naked - you’re lucky if you can.

Politics disturbed me - I suffered reading news.
Politics disturbed me - and I suffered reading news.
I blamed it on mankind -  I blamed it on my youth.

But then I found out - money rules the world.
Oh yeah - I found out - that money rules the world.
Learnt to fight this awful feelin’ - and it still does hurt.

Steinkreuz-blau bearbeitet

So I decided - to quit the world I knew.
Yes -  I decided - to quit the world I knew -
to build a wall of sorrow and restart my life all new.

Done died one time - but I neverll die again.
I done died one time - never want to die again.
As long as sun will rise - I won’t fear no pain.

I found out - that my heart would turn to ice.
I found out - my heart will turn to ice.
I realize the fact - I’ve got to pay a price.

I died one time - and the whole world died with me.
I died one time - and the whole world died with me.
Just let me have my future - and live a noble fantasy!

Remember me

Remember me …
as the one who loved U

Remember me …
as your friend

Remember me …
remember … me …

I couldn’t afford
the clothes that U thought
would fit you all right
my money was tight
And U said OK
I’ll be on my way
I’ll get these shoes
and U’re gonna lose
my love …

Remember me
as the one who tried
Remember me
as the one who died
for love …

I didn’t accept
the way that you wept
away your adept
who thought you accept
his feelings …
I couldn’t agree (with)
long distance-calls free
coz I payed the bill
without any thrill
’n understanding …

Baumstämme-Gang-mini

But you’ll …
Remember me
as the one who cared
as the one who shared
… his heart!

I think I wonder
compare U with thunder
and lightning at night
while feelin’ all right.
Comfortable madness
no suitable sadness
to complain …

So … remember me
without regret
Remember me
as the one who said
remember me …

remember me …
remember me …
mm-member me …
remember me …
remember my member
m-member me
as your friend
remember me
as
... your man!

THE CO-COAL BLUES

One day I was crazy

want' to paint my white face black.

Had this idea, Lord,

to paint my white face black.

I left home to buy coal-sticks

and then I went back.

I took a coal-stick

painted my hands and face.

Took a coal-stick

to paint my white hands and face.

Lord, I wouldn't have done so

had I known I'd be treated this-a ways.

I went to a bar-room,

Lord, they didn't serve me right.

Went to a bar-room t' have a drink,

they didn't serve me right.

Said: »Boy, not today,

come back another night!«

Then I came to a snack-bar,

wanted something to eat.

Yes, I was so hungry,

wanted t' buy me something to eat.

They told me: Any white man can sit here,

but a black man they just would not feed!

I was so confused,

didn't want nothing but to go back.

I was so confused, Lord,

I just wanted to go back.

But the white driver I's haltin' said

he wouldn't let no black guy ride his cab.

AlJolson

I got the Co-Coal Blues -

I didn't wanna have 'em no more.

Yes I got the Co-Coal Blues,

didn't wanna have 'em no more.

So I went back home (by foot),

took some water to wash the black coal off.

Lord, them blues ain't nothing

but a good man feelin' bad.

Lord, them blues ain't nothing

but a woman wanna leave her man.

The black man can't wash the coal  off,

blues 're also to be a black (black) man.

Now, that's the reason

that the black men know them blues so well.

Yeah - the reason

the black men know them blues so well.

He's got 'em day and night,

so many times he just can't tell.

I’M A BUG

I'm a bug ButtonMINI

Walking in the brooding heat

I feel as though l' s canned.

Walking through that desert

my thoughts are growing lame.

If the moon should rise again

and the sun could stay -

if a man made love all night

and his girl would pray -

I'd recognize, I's betrayed.

Sometimes I can't complain -
sometimes I wanna cry .

I'd feel that life is hard to live,

I'd get a thought l'd rather die.

Many thoughts are frozen,

my ideas they are on ice!

Many ways to drop my will

and it may be the price -

to see that nothing's right!

Madness is an illness

and love might be an error.

The world is fulfillness

but hate comes from the devil!

God' s an illusion

with his mass of promotion.

Devil can be hope

like an anti-dandruff-lotion!

But meanwhile I feel bored.

There are so many ones

with milliards in their pockets.

And there are too  many guns

and violence in ev'ry rocket!

Hatred's spread all over the world

and it poisons ev' ry heart.,

I could cease to weep and moan

but to love I couldn't start.

Love' s oozing into graves
and beauty' s dying slowly.

Patience 's dead already

justice's burried long ago.

War is our part-time game

- it's frightening,

yes - I know!

Oh, mama - just cut it short!

I can't hear you now!

Oh ,mama - don't cry, as hell

- I don' t hear you how!

I'm a bug, I ceased to be

as righteous as you wanted me

I'm a bug, I closed my eyes

for not to hear and not to see

- just wanna live to be!

Don't try to seduce me

Don't try to change my mind!

Don't try to seduce me

- I have changed my mind!

Don't try to reach my heart

Don't try to tell me lies.

I won't hear you

I won' t see you

I won't be near you

I won't feel you

I won't taste you

I won't waste you

l'm a bug!

l'm a bug!

l'm a bug!

But don't you ever think
you're better than me!
